Dutch treat: At a later date, another patent ruling in Apple v. Samsung

Dutch treat: At a later date, another patent ruling in Apple v. Samsung Let's begin again.

A Dutch court ruled today that Samsung doesn't violate a patent Apple holds located on the so-called pinch-to-zoom feature in mobile software. The feature, enabling users to use their two fingers to focus or out, works as a central component in mobile systems today.

Today's ruling precipitates just months after Apple lost similar battles in Dutch and British courts to enforce the pinch-to-zoom patent against competitors HTC and Google-owned Motorola Mobility. Apple had hoped in each case to ban things that it believed infringe its patents banned from sale.

So far, neither Apple nor Samsung has been allowed to deal a decisive blow into their patent battles. Apple comes closest employing a victory trapped on tape at the San Jose, Calif., court certainly where an jury found Samsung as violating the majority of the iPhone maker's patents. The jury paved like for Apple to obtain $1.05 billion in damages as well as opportunity to ban Samsung products. However, there's still the distance to start -- and that knows just how many appeals -- before which may happen.

Today's ruling can be no means the completion about the battle between Apple and Samsung. If history is required to be our guide, a couple different setbacks every now and again mean not the professionals mainly because they fight for patent dominance.

CNET has contacted both Apple and Samsung for reply to the ruling. Heading to update this story when we finally read more information.
